What our parents say:

Both my daughters absolutely love THEATRIX. They have both achieved good grades in their examinations and performed in yearly shows.  Both girls have gained in confidence and made firm friendships that span different age ranges. Rosemarie and her team make everyone feel welcome and the girls feel very safe, happy and have commented that it feels like it is a 'second home'.

Theatrix has seen our kids through their tweens to their teens and has been such a fun and nurturing experience for them. The tutors are brilliant and have helped them to grow in skill and confidence, achieve great results in exams and even led to extra opportunities on film sets! I couldn’t recommend them more.

What I really like is how personal it is. We’ve been involved in larger local theatrical companies where students can get lost amongst the ‘hundreds’ (but very few boys). Theatrix is so much more personal with such a lovely theatre to perform in. My daughter really enjoys her Saturday mornings with you all. I just wish we had found you sooner! I didn’t know you existed! My eldest daughter is nearly 18 and would have suited Theatrix so much more than where she went for 5 years (and stopped because you had to do all three sessions of drama, dance and singing when she really only wanted the drama). Now I’m working on my 14 year old son!! Would love him to be involved. Think he was impressed by how many boys took part in the show. What a talented bunch they all were. -

My two boys have been going to Theatrix for a number of years and absolutely love it. The younger of the two does both the drama class and the musical theatre class and can’t decide which he prefers as they are equally so enjoyable. Neither son is particularly confident and Theatrix has suited them well as the environment is so incredibly nurturing, allowing them to harness and express their own personalities without fear. The teachers are very respectful towards the children which fosters a great reciprocal relationship and a wonderful sense of “family” that my sons have come to love. In turn, the children are also respectful to one another which cultivates an imperative sense of security underpinning everything. My boys always look forward to their classes and leave feeling enthusiastic and excited about what they’ve learned and the projects they’re working on. Everything is fun! I’d thoroughly recommend Theatrix, especially if your child is more timid. The confidence my sons have developed over time is of lifelong value and is continuing to grow and grow. Thank you Theatrix!

I’d also like to thank you all so much for giving my child the great experiences they have had during their first year at Theatrix. They joined the drama school as a way of coping with low self confidence and anxiety and they have loved every session.

It is the best thing we have done for Michael, to enrol him in Theatrix. The teachers are fun, professional and inspiring. The other students are friendly and supportive and there is a great sense of teamwork. The productions are varied in style and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. I asked Michael for one word which describes Theatrix and he said "awesome!"

Theatrix has given my children far more than their expensive schools have ever done. What I love about the group is that the children are learning really important life skills whilst having fun. Not only do they act, but they learn to work co-operatively with different ages, abilities, and temperaments. No-one is ever left out, or made to feel marginalised, and they develop the confidence to have a go and try something new.

Theatrix has been such a fantastic experience for our son - it has both challenged and inspired him and has given him the opportunity to develop his love of theatre in a nurturing environment, whilst all the time having fun too!

WHY WE LOVE THEATRIX......

Eight years ago we looked at number of other drama schools before deciding on Theatrix because we liked their more structured approach to acting and the ability to sit real exams (however odd that sounds). As our daughter even at primary school was fairly serious about her drama, for us it was an easy choice. At Theatrix it wasn't just a case of "doing a show" for parents once a year with a bit of singing, dancing and acting thrown in - we felt that the kids seemed to be
gaining a solid grounding in real drama skills which would
stand them in good stead if they wanted to study the subject
at school or even at a higher level. The bonus was that somehow the teachers were managing to instill all this whilst
the kids were still having a great time! I am still after 8 years
struck by how much the students learn, even in the
younger groups and how this translates into achieving consistently excellent examination results.

Our choice all those years ago has proved sound: Theatrix' im-
pact on our daughter's GCSE work was invaluable and she alsosuccessfully auditioned to become a member of the National Youth Theatre. Along the way she has made strong enduring friendships with her fellow students, participated in some wonderful performances - some serious like Hamlet, some lighter like Little Shop of Horrors - and to be honest had the absolute time of her life. Oh and she has also learned a lot about playwriting - thanks to Katie and Rosemarie! We're still with Theatrix, looking forward to another couple of years and wondering where she'll go next.... Our younger daughter has now followed her into the Theatrix fold - we would not have considered sending her anywhere else. She is much more shy and finds new experiences hard, but within a very few weeks she had settled in and was enjoying her classes. The difference in her confidence level is amazing. I am optimistic that Theatrix will make a huge difference to her life - although she may never seek the spotlight with quite the quiet determination as her sister!
